Freedom is the human's intrinsic nature and spiritual pursuit that eagerest to achieve. The freedom issue is not only an old problem, but also a regular new issue worth investigating. Every age, people have their own unique opinions on the issue and constantly pursue the realization of freedom. The most important idea of Marx's theory is his human thought. From reading Marx's literature, it can be found a clue throughout his theory is the problems of people. The seeking of human freedom and liberation is the ultimate goal of Marx's theoretical investigation and practical demands in his life. Although Marx did not leave us a specialized book about human freedom, Marx's idea of freedom, as an important and integral part in the system of human thought, like a bunch of"shining light"that permeates in most of the classic Marxism literature. From"Doctoral Dissertation","Economic and Philosophical Manuscripts of 1844","Critique of Hegel's Philosophy"to"Germany Ideology","The Communist Manifesto","Capital"and so on, Marx discussed and elucidated the problems of human freedom everywhere. It can be said that human freedom is the core issue, and the inner spirit and soul of Marx's human theory. Therefore, by understanding and grasping Marx's view of freedom scientifically, it's helpful for us not only to have a deeper understanding and mastery about Marx's human thought and its theory of social development, but also to combine the study of Marx's freedom theory with the practice of human reality and realize the modern value of Marx's freedom thought.This paper explores Marx's freedom thought based on the previous studies, by means of the existing literature in domestic and abroad, and according to Marx's literature in different periods. This paper which uses the comparison method, literature method and analysis method, etc, is divided into four parts to discuss the related problems. The first part of this paper studies the history evolution of western views of freedom and introduces tersely about the western philosophers'and thinkers'understanding on freedom before the formation of Marx's view of freedom. The second part studies the formation and development of Marx's view of freedom. The development history of Marx's view of freedom which is divided into the germination period, formation period and maturity period, is considered as a clue that accelerates to grasp and understand clearly Marx's thinking and opinions of the theory about human freedom in every period. The third part summarizes the scientific content, compares Marx's view with western philosophers', and explores deeply the main features of Marx's view of freedom that reflects assimilating and abandoning the predecessors'views and its characteristics of transcendence and contemporary nature. The fourth part studies the modern value of Marx's view of freedom combined with reality. Marx's view of freedom not only has the guiding significance to the socialism with Chinese characteristics road, but it is a value orientation and has important theoretical guiding significance to human practical activities and the development of future society. |
