Credit card emerged in U.S.A. at the beginning of last century. Now, it has been developed into a kind of very important financial service applied in the area of customer loans. In U.S.A, more than 40 million cards were pushed out last year, and more than 25% of the amount of consumption was conducted by credit card. China met credit card at the end of 1970's and has arrested the eyes of financial institutions as one of the most important card markets on the world. The next decade will be the key period to card business in China, every competitor has to find its proper position in the future card market.Bank of China (BOC ) is the most earlier intervener in credit card business in China. Trying to take advantage of the rivals, BOC is now striving with it's outdate concepts of operation management and enhancing its market exploitation.This article firstly introduced the credit card from it's origin to the present status over the world, and then analyzed the demand and supply in domestic market. Based on the summary of the weak and strength of BOC in card business, the article gave the suggestions of tactics which BOC should adopt such as tactics of customer management, products management, risk control management, etc. Especially, the article found a mathematical model and a variable (RC) which can be used to determine the break-even point of card business.
