International Technology Transformation And Industrial Structure Upgrading

It is the internal demand of our economic development to accelerate the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure that are concerned as the great scheme for China's economic development strategy in the long run. Technology,as a variable,acts as the internal motivation of industrial structure regulation. In consideration with the reinforced globalization and deepening of open markets,It is therefore becoming an important issue of economic development for which industrial structure by effectively utilizing international technology transfer and promoting technology advancement should be discussed.This thesis starts to summarize the principles of technology development and industrial structure,introducing some related concepts like international technology transfer and industrial structure. It is first stated that the functional mechanism of technology advancement is conducted by motivating reformation of traditional industries,developing new industries and changing the relationship among demand structure,backward and forward linking effects,and thus causing essential changes of industrial structure.The author turns directly to the key topic of how technology importation giving changes to industrial structure upgrading. Technology intake is an effective way to promote technology development especially in developing countries. Great achievements have been achieved in our country through technology intake and promoting industrial technology development since opening and reform was carried out. But some existing problems such as irrational intake structure,low absorbing capability and poor performance reduce the effect of technology intake greatly. Therefore,technology intakes has a causality with the worse industrial structure.Concerning that China is a dynamic nation in Foreign Direct Investment market and experiences an intensively reforming of its economics and industrial structures,the study takes foreign direct investment as a special angel to explore the influences on industrial structure from inward foreign direct investment,puts forward to studying the allocation and technological transfer features of present foreign direct investment in China and discusses the two-side impacts on industrial upgrading.The final part of this thesis focuses on some strategetic ideas of how to effectively using international technology transfer and foreign direct investment in purposes of improving industrial structure, accelerating industrial structure upgrading and most importantly,raising China's international competitiveness.
