Erhu music consists of both original compositions and transplantations. The history of transplanted Erhu music can be divided into two periods: before and after the 1970s. Before the 1970s, Erhu music was mainly transplanted from Chinese traditional instrumental music, including Banhu music, Suona music, shuanguan music, and JianNan sizu music. Notably, all these music demonstrates vivid characteristics and local stylistics. After the 1970s, Erhu music has been transplanted from Western instrumental music instead, including piano and violin music—virtuosic violin works are the mainstream.Transplanted music not only enables Erhu music to be more stylistic and virtuosic, but also allows Erhu repertoire to be more diverse and inclusive. Moreover, by learning transplanted Erhuu music, performers are able to enhance their musicality in terms of music interpretation and performing techniques. In this study, I explored and analyzed two works that represent each period before and after the 1970s--《Jiang-He-Shui》and《Introduction&Rondo Capriccioso》—in order to provide different view to other Erhu performer.
