Erhu is the extremely representative Chinese traditional stringed instrument.It began in the Tang Dynasty and has a history of thousands of years.The development of erhu in modern times,since the publication of the first erhu solo “Song of Sickliness” written by Mr.Liu Tianhua,has experienced more than a hundred years of wind and rain.During the development of erhu in the past 100 years,erhu genres with different styles have gradually formed,among which the most famous and influential are the Jiang genre,the Qin genre and the Southern genre.The erhu genre is the outstanding achievement of numerous erhu artists in years of practice.Its formation promoted the development of modern erhu,enriched and broadened the artistic expression of erhu.This paper focuses on the comparative study of the artistic characteristics of the Jiang genre,the Qin genre and the Southern genre of erhu.From the perspectives of its formation reasons,historical background,development context and style characteristics,this paper summarizes the common characteristics of the three erhu genres,and the basic conditions and important factors for the formation of erhu genres.
