Plant stems, leaves, flowers and the texture with contours of fruits are the outstanding design work of nature; give us the feeling to life, harmony, tranquility and mystery. If you can plant reasonable patterns in furniture design, furniture would be able to get a kind of natural feeling; from it, and this is what we desire and demand in a modern society. This paper explores in how to use plant patterns better in modern digital design and furniture production.This thesis focus on two parts to discuss how traditional plant patterns were evolved in patterns and shapes and the use of plant patterns in digital art for furniture design.In the first part, is to collect domestic and traditional patterns of plant material, decorating ideas and style of its laws. Research shows that plant patterns are limited by geographical conditions, level of productivity, national traditions, people's consciousness, and many other factors. Through the development, social and cultural exchanges increased, people's awareness changes, as people's aesthetic sense develop toward the same direction through different contexts around the world, and the decorative patterns of preferences are also connected.In the second part, based on computer graphic design, by using devices to input graphics, simplifying the existing patterns of plants to refine and reconstruct into a CAD file, designing by capturing characteristics of plants' image of nature to maintain it real and concise. Establish a plant pattern database by its forms. Using furniture modeling theory and graphic design to applied plant patterns to the furniture style design. With CNC engraving simulation program, to demonstrate how to use patterns when producing and processing. And using CNC from school facilities with existing patterns to actual manufacture, to prove the validation of plant pattern library can be practical.Through this study, patterns of plants will be used in modern furniture design, industrial production, the use of CNC engraving equipment manufactured furniture with vivid emotion that will make users enjoy. |
