A Study Of Dunhuang’s Northern Dynasty Caisson Ceiling Patterns In Digital Painting Design

Based on Critical arts theories and semiotics,this paper takes image and product design of Chinese Northern Dynasty Dunhuang Caisson Ceiling patterns in digital painting as the research object,with the significant aim of promoting Chinese cultural symbolism application into nowadays digital painting and product design,in order to explore appropriate approaches of integrating Northern Dynasty Caisson Ceiling patterns and digital painting design by ways of field research,literature review,comparison analysis,Cite-Space and multidisciplinary interpretation.This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the theoretical principles and design practices of the Dunhuang Northern Dynasty Caisson Ceiling patterns in digital painting and product design.To achieve the aforementioned objectives,this paper is divided into five chapters.First,this paper proposes the background,motivation,objectives,significance,object,and literature review,laying a solid foundation for the analysis of design ideology,design principles and design method of putting Northern dynasty Caisson Ceiling patterns into digital painting and product design.In the second chapter,this paper mainly proposes the critical artistic perspective,semiotic theories,digital technology and cultural values,as the basis.In the third chapter,this paper takes three types of digital products,namely,digital animation,digital games,and digital creativity as the representatives,and proposes specific strategies for the application of Caisson Ceiling patterns in these three types of products by way of quantification method in form of charts,including simplification,deformation,and reorganization.In the fourth chapter,based on the above rationale,theory and statistical analysis,this paper presents the graduation work framed by simplification,deformation and reorganization as mechanisms to the extraction of the Northern dynasty Caisson Ceiling patterns and to their digitally-designed products.In summary,this paper demonstrates the rationality,feasibility,and effectiveness of the Northern dynasty Caisson Ceiling patterns in digital painting and product design in a theoretical and practical way,fully explaining the theoretical basis,core aspects,and specific ways of integrating the two,providing a reference and promoting a development for Northern dynasty Caisson Ceiling patterns in digital painting in terms of symbolic form,symbolic meaning,and symbolic use from the perspective of semiotics,and supplying an innovative route for Chinese Dunhuang culture transmitted throughout the world.
