The belief of Hugong Emperor in Fangyan of Yongkang is the most famous folk faith in Zhejiang. Hugong Emperor's history archetype is Hu Ze who was born in Yongkang in the northern Song dynasty. There are many legend stories about Hu Ze blessing the government and the folk, the government praised him and the folk worshipped him. The temple is still having many pilgrims now, the "Hugong Ling Qian" is still very popular and the temple fair is important event to the locals.Although the belief of Hugong Emperor is an example in Yongkang, but the phenomenon it reflected is all over China:such as the belief of Guan Yu which spreads all over the country, the belief of Qian King in Haining, the belief of Li Jin in Guilin and so on.The central argument of this paper is The formation and development of the belief of Hugong Emperor reflect the sense of the interaction between officials and folk; in the specific operational level, this harmonious interaction between officials and folk is accomplished by a series of ceremony symbol.The paper relates and analyzes around this central argument in four parts:The first chapter studies Hu Ze in the history, and considers Hu Ze have neither big contribution nor moral success.The second chapter studies the formation and development of the and divide it into four stages. For some of the controversial issues, such as exemption the tax of the Qu state and Wu state and the time when the Hugong temple set up, the paper Made its conclusion. Then this part puts forward the process reflects the sense when the relation between the government and the folk went from conflict to the harmony.The third chapter analyses the reason of the formation and development of the belief of Hugong Emperor, which is the religious factors in the Confucianism itself and the external needs in the integration of community, and it was drove by various social forces.The fourth chapter introduces the situation of the belief of Hugong Emperor, puts emphasis on "Hugong Ling Qian", the temple fair and so on, and puts forward these activities have the sense of ceremony symbol. Because of this ceremony symbol, the governmental and folk get harmonious interaction.These demonstrations support the paper's thesis in full.
