"Huahua Hao":Studies On Folk Belief In Southern Heibei Province

This article discusses the organization structure and operation mechanism of village belief activity, trying to show the importance of ritual activities by people working together for condensing the will and strength of village people and forming the village collective identity, and to exploring the relationship between traditional value of belief practice and present development of the village through the analysis of myriad religious practice (Hua hua Hao) in Southern Hebei.Affected by factors such as history and politics, the region formed the customs that attending ceremony in the shed(Da Peng Guo Hui), which is different from attending ceremony in the temple. As the core content of myriad religious practice (Huahua Hao), attending ceremony in the shed(Da Peng Guo Hui) not only just reflect attending ceremony at home, but also reflect Jiao Festival in the village, both are relying on foreman system and rotation system. The reason why myriad religious practice (Huahua Hao)can be a tradition, continues to this day, because there is a powerful driving force behind the scenes, which has not only includes the individual pursuit of psychological vision, also includes village collective strength of the transcendence of individual members of the village. The worship of the individual and collective ritual practice, jointly contributed to the splendid local characteristics of village temple culture.The thesis is divided into six parts. The introduction make a brief introduction of the topic origin and the research methods, and make a brief review of the academic history related to this topic. The second chapter is the general situation of the field of this study, a brief review about the region’s history, geography, and a introduction about current situation of the development of DaPing village. The third chapter describes faith life order of DaPing village through the basic connotation of Huahua Hao. The fourth chapter analyzes the Huahua Hao belief in practice from the temple, Jiao festival and attending the ceremony. The fifth chapter focuses on the organization and operation of the ceremonies, discusses the value and significance of xing Hao (doing goodness) in the development of villages in the present. This study aims to show faith traditions in the village life forms and practices, and provides a detailed custom case for the study of the folk beliefs in north China through the describe about social folk brief Huahua Hao in Southern Hebei.
