In the ancient times, rivers not only provide abundant water for agricultural irrigation, but also serve as the convenient water route for cities and countries along the way, which facilitated travelling and transportation for people before the invention of new traffic transportation. Beginning with rivers, this paper conducts a comprehensive survey on rivers, cities, towns, transportation in"the areas of Jia Sha Ying Three Rivers"and the relationship among them. It also conducts the case study of Zhu Xian Town and Zhou Jia Kou between the middle years of Ming Dynasty and the end of Qing Dynasty, so as to examine the development in this area in a dynamic way."The areas of Jia Sha Ying Three Rivers"are mainly plains lying in the middle south of Henan Province. Both the main streams and branches of these river basins go from northwest to southeast and flow together in the end, flowing towards Huai River. Plenty of rivers nourish these areas and so many cities and towns as Zhu Xian Town, Zhou Jia Kou and Bei Wu Du. Taking the water transportation as a turning point, these cities and towns take advantages of the plains and have become the key position of the water transportation net in Henan as far as China, playing a significant role for the development of these areas. Therefore, this paper makes a survey of these areas from three aspects. First it investigates the main streams and branches of"the areas of Jia Sha Ying Three Rivers", and summarizes the distribution of the main cites and towns in these areas, so as to have a general understanding of the place Zhu Xian Town and Zhou Jia Kou lie in in a macroscopic view. Beginning with the transportation in these areas, the third part expounds the change of transportation and mode of economic development and its effect on the rise and fall of the cities and towns, so as to clarify the main factors which lead to the development of these areas.
