Research Of Outward Bound Affecting Mental Health Of University Poor Freshman

Recent years, as CPC Central Committee and the State Council take more and more attention about the Mental Health of undergraduate, the Mental Health of needy students of university freshman has also been paid more attention by internal scholars. Lots of researches indicate that the Mental Health of university freshman is not optimistically. The problem of how to improve the Mental Health of poor students of university freshman has become an important urgent project for university educationalist.This research based upon the situation of 80 registered poor students of 2008 freshman who were departed into two equal groups. One group acted as experiment group, the other acted as comparison group. This research tested these students by using SCL-90 and GSES for their situation of Mental Health and Self-efficacy. And the relationship between Mental Health and self-efficacy has also been investigated. During the research, experiment group took in an Outward Bound, then two groups were quested by SCL-90, GSES and questionnaire of outward bound. The investigation of the result of two groups tells the impact of outward bound to Self-efficacy and mental health of poor freshman. At the same time, one student was picked up from experiment group and tested as case study. The results of research list below:(1) The mental health level of university poor freshman is much more less than national Norm, but the Self-efficacy level is almost equal to national Norm.(2) The Self-efficacy of university poor freshman nearly relates to mental health level. The Self-efficacy also nearly relates to the mark of SCL-90 and other factors.(3) Outward bound can effectively improve the Self-efficacy of university poor freshman, and improve the mental health by affecting factors such as:self forced compliance, interpersonal relationship, depression, anxiety, phobia and Psychotc disorders.According to research result, suggestions have been given below by investigator:(1)When universities attend to improve material condition of poor freshman, mental health education also needs to be potentiated. Multi-way should be used into improve poor freshman mental health, in order to improve their both material condition and mental health.(2)Universities could use outward bound as an effectually method daily mentality consultation to improve poor students mental health.(3) Giving poor freshman mental health consultation by using outward bound need to consider the five factors of Self-efficacy. And the plan making has to consider fact situation of object.
