Research On The Adjective-adverb Concurrence Words Of The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary(the 5^th Edition)

It is well known that The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary is the most authoritative dictionary of contemporary Chinese.The 5th edition published in 2005 summarize the research findings,and by the foundation of these,the compilers indicates parts of speech for single-character and multi-character categories.The production of the task advance the practicability,at the same time,it also furnishes a reference to the use of Chinese.As a student of applied linguistics,The Contemporary Chinese Dictionary is an instrument,and contains a lots of resources.Based on 142 vocabulary entries of the Adjective-Adverb Concurrence Words in this dictionary, this paper will study on the causes of Adjective-Adverb Concurrence phenomena.The basal theory about parts of speech is the foundation of this study,combined with these theories,this paper will place emphasis on the discussion about distinguish between adjective and adverb,conversion words and non-conversion words. And then,discuss the cause of the Adjective-Adverb Concurrence Words from perceive, function and acceptation.Through the investigate,we got the causes of formation of Adjective-Adverb Concurrence Words:perceive part,base on "part of speech is a sort of prototypical category","category transition" is the base of perceive part.Grammatical metaphor is the invert mechanism of the Adjective-Adverb Concurrence Words.Function part,first of all,adjective and adverb are all modifiers,the adjective which shows characteristics of action bears a resemblance to adverbial modifier.The resemblance between them lead to adjective could act as adverbial modifier;The second ,renewing the framework and pertinent component are all the causes of formation of Adjective-Adverb Concurrence Words;The last but not the least,acceptation part,acceptation have relation to function,the relation just like an indiscrete mass of material.Part of speech and function are the extrinsic characteristic of Adjective-Adverb Concurrence Words,in fact,the change of acceptation is the immanent cause of Concurrence Words.Through the analyzing and summarizing,the change of acceptation contains two means: differentiation and amalgamation.At the end of the study,we point out several ill-considered ndicates parts of speech,and we hope this study can supply a reference to compilation of dictionary for Adjective-Adverb Concurrence Words.
