A Study Of Liao Huiying's Novels

As a woman writer, Liao Huiying started her literary creation with her novel in 1982, then she became a representative writer of new feminism literature in the 1980s as the publish of her novels, such as, , and so on. The theme of Liao Huiying's novels is to show the plight of women, and her words focus on the true situation of women's daily life, and the artistic techniques she used in her works is a plain realist style, both of which reveal the typical style of new feminism writing in 1980s. However, when it comes to the 1990s, with the changes of social environment, feminist writing became more and more multicomponent, and Liao Huiying's novels were labeled as 'popular novel' due to the two characteristics referred above. With thematic and artistic expression to be both creative research on Liao Huiying's novels, this paper try to restore the historical context of her creation, then to give a reasonable position in the literary history of her novels . Liao Huiying's novels reflect the true living of women from 1980s to 1990s in Taiwan, as well as the demand of liberation to women in the new era, in the meantime, her popular expression is in accord with her creative concept which is to write on behalf of women. But it is undeniable that there does exist some inappropriate arrangements in Liao Huiying's novels. So how to make an alternation in order to upgrade the creation is a question deserves deep consideration of the writer.
