Comparative Study Of American Western Films And Chinese Western Films

American western films and Chinese western films show similar and unique features of raw folklore and natural landscape. Firstly, Chinese western films formed its own characters from Chinese films history under the influence of Western films. Then, these two films have distinctive regional characters respectively. American western films and Chinese western films both reflected the more primitive and backward characters of Westerns. These landscape in films, always being deserts, mountains, villages, towns, blow sand and so all, are different from the developed Eastern which has not these landscape. Of course, it is obvious that there are difference between American western films and Chinese western films. That it reflected various explicit and hidden contacts from external form to internal meaning. Firstly, this article study the westerns and western films in order to make the reader to konw the outline between the films of two countries. Secondly, it is a study compared with history, cultural background, characters, narrative structure, aesthetic features between two films. It revealed the development history of national films, and found the effects of western films which influenced by society economy and culture. Moreover, we can find the advantage and disadvantage of Chinese western films compared with the development history of American western films, and hope that it can offer feasible suggestions to the creation of Chinese western film.
