With the arrival of the new century,the western Chinese films have moved away from the environment where theory and practice resonated at that time and the theoretical voice gradually disappeared,and have turned to market-oriented creation.On the theme,there is a view of love and marriage that is more humanistic because of the progress of cultural thoughts.There is a profound observation of self from people,especially the waiting for self-value caused by people's attention to themselves.There are also universal contents of harmonious coexistence of human and nature brought about by the realistic context of ecological environment.In the aspect of character image,due to the rise of small town youth,a new audience group,and changes in economic policies;therefore,there are two groups: the marginalized people in the city and the mirrored people in the countryside.As for the expression of image style,although it has been diversified since the new century,it is based on the image style of the 20 th century,such as the strengthening of documentary style and the embodiment of forceful style,as well as the violent style adapted to capital competition in the market.Influenced by the wave of industrialization,western China's movies should be based on past successful development experiences,such as the tendency of popularization from the perspective of creation and the initiative to meet the audience's needs in the current movie market,i.e.adding other narrative elements such as song and dance,comedy,etc.On this basis,western movies should also look to the future and create highly localized quality movies so as to inject momentum for their long-term development.We should also learn advanced Hollywood technology and move forward from the dual direction of internal cultural motive force and external technology drive.Through the comparison of the above two aspects of external form and internal spiritual expression,we find that since the new century,western Chinese movies have continued in artistic form,but their internal spiritual and cultural transmission is quite different from that in the 1980 s,and their core spirit has been diluted with the development of the times.
