| As the fastest growing minority group, Hispanic immigrants have surpassed African Americans and become the largest minority group in the United States. With the rapid expansion in population, Hispanics have been influencing various aspects of American society. Based on analyzing the historical development of three main Hispanic groups, namely Mexican Americans, Puerto Rican Americans and Cuban Americans respectively, the paper makes a comprehensive analysis of Hispanic influence on American economy, politics and social culture.First of all, the author illustrates Hispanic impact on the US. economy and their contribution to the US. from three aspects, which are supply of labor force, Hispanic income and purchasing power, Hispanic-owned enterprises in America respectively. Economic impact of Hispanics in the future will be also deduced;Secondly, in the part concerning political impact, the thesis introduces factors that influence the minority group politics; In addition, the thesis analyzes Hispanic growing political influence—from the blank impact to local even nationwide impact; The thesis interprets Hispanic influence on the US. presidential election, and taking 2008 presidential election as an example, the thesis explores Hispanic impact on US. presidential election in detail;At last, Hispanic cultural impact on the U.S. is demonstrated from three aspects of social cultural life—the use of Spanish, entertainment and sports. At the end of cultural impact part, the reasons of their slow cultural assimilation process are explored.The author of the paper holds the view that although Hispanic immigrants have great impact on American society, their existence and development will not divide the United States into a country with two languages and cultures. In other words, Hispanics will not challenge American national identity. With the pervasion and impact of Hispanic power in various fields of American society, Hispanic problem have become one of the biggest concerns to both American government and American academic field in the 21 century. Therefore, analyzing Hispanic impact on American economy, politics and culture will be a great help for us to better understand American society and culture and their developing trend in the future. |
