This thesis uses bi-regional input–output model and direct, indirect, induced economic impact analysis to conduct an empirical research to measure the economic impact of the Oriental Arts Company. The Oriental Arts Company has two major projects, one is the Bradford Festival and another is the World Music Training Classes. In terms of the data collection, the Oriental Arts Company’s data are generated from its financial report, the audiences’ data are collected by questionnaires and the standard multiplier comes from the UK government report. Firstly, the thesis study the case of Bradford Festival to present how to use the EIToolkit software to calculate the art activities’ economic impact on local and other regions. After that thesis discusses the World Music Training Classes and apply the three aspects of economic impact analysis to understand audiences’ behavior.This thesis is divided into the four chapters. The introduction outlines the research background, purpose and significance, it gives a literature review of the economic impact as well. The second chapter introduces the concept and content of the arts impact analysis. In addition, it explains the three methodologies used in this thesis. In the third chapter, the thesis interprets the analysis methods and calculation steps on the Oriental Arts Company’s two business. Based on the previous analysis, the fourth chapter summarizes the research results and puts forward the future directions for research.This research investigated the net change that occurs in an economy as the result of the arts activity. It also provides a practical and systematic methodology for comparative analyses. The thesis can be concluded as following: arts managers can use economic impact analysis strategically to provide information pertaining to making and justifying effective managerial and marketing decisions.
