Research On The Dimensions Of The Metaphorical Representation Of Marriage And Love In College Students

Metaphor is not just a linguistic figure of speech; it is rather a way of cognition.Metaphor is regarded as a way of metaphoric therapy used in psychology. College students are faced with life task of love and marriage which can affect their development and happiness all their life. Many studies have pointed out that view on marriage and love of college students is opening and values of marriage and love is going to different tropism.The frustration of love seriously affected normal life and study of undergraduate. Therefore, this paper is to study the characters of student's metaphorical representation of marriage and love, hoping to provide a new perspective for psychological counseling of love frustration and education of view on marriage and love.This study analyzed research of view on marriage and love, reviewing research of metaphor and exploring dimensions of metaphorical representation of marriage and love. According to literature research, hypothesis and value of the total research are set. In this paper, study on the dimensions of metaphorical representation of marriage and love in college students. Content analysis and structural dimensions of the metaphorical representation of marriage and love are set. The formal questionnaire was developed based on the content analysis.some college students were surveyed with this scale and explore the relation among the love satisfaction and metaphorical representation of love. Then results of the studies were discussed and explained. Conclusions of this research are as follow: First, the Metaphorical Representation of love in college students was composed of two dimensions: Romantic and negative. Metaphorical representation of love was composed of seven factors, the Bondage, End-result, Valuable thing, Needs, Life, Blank, Turn.Second, the questionnaire we studied has good reliability and validity, which could be used as a good measurement in future researches.Third,difference of metaphorical representation of love are significant in aspects individual,family and love situation.Forth, Correlation of metaphorical representation of love and metaphorical representation of marriage is significant in college students.Fifth, dimensions of romantic and negative were the most powerful predictors in regression model of love satisfaction.
