Study On Application Of Model Of Text Analysis To C-E Translation Of Practical Writings

With the implementation of Strategy of"Going Global", the cross-cultural communication between China and other countries in the world has developed gradually. The translation of practical writings has gone deep into each corner of the society, therefore, in the translation circle great importance has been attached to the suitability of theoretical research in the field of translation assessment of practical writings. Whether the famous model of text analysis put forward by Christiane Nord, the German functionalist, owns suitability for evaluation of translation of practical writings is the major problem that the thesis would probe into. So the thesis expounds the need of text analysis in translation, purpose and functions of the Model, possible relationships between source text and target text as well as extratextual and intratextual factors, and the principle of functionality plus loyalty is emphasized. Meanwhile, the thesis makes a research on the suitability of the model of text analysis as a systematic theory in the field of C-E translation assessment of practical writings. On the basis of the model of text analysis, the author selects three kinds of representative practical writings: authoritive statements, tourist brochure and news as sample texts to prove the vital importance of the Model in the process of translators'translation strategies making and the readers'evaluation. Further, the suitability of the Model in translation assessment of practical writings has been effectively proved.
