The Research On Yixuan-Zen Idea And Linji Temple Pagoda

The South-Zen,which was the model representative of Chinese Buddhism,has grown into five sects during the later Tang Dynasty to Five Dynasties.Linji-Zen and Caodong-Zen, two sects of them came down,especially Linji-Zen.Linji-Zen's founder is the famous Zen doctor Yixuan.In Tang DaZhong-eight year(854),Yixuan came to Zhenzhou(now Zhengding town of Hebei),managed Linji-Temple.Later it developed rapidly and was named as Linji-Zen,because the method of practice Zen was stronger,directer and simpler.When Yixuan died in Tang Xiantong-eight year(867),his disciples built a pagoda,Chengling,in order to commemorate him.Linji's Quotation,written records of Yixuan'resume and prelecting Sutras,were compiled by San Sheng Hui Ran.In the Jungle of Buddhist,it was widely inherited and made a contribution to the development of Linji-Zen.In this article,we will take Linji's Quotation as the source,just introduces Yixuan's life,and analyses his Zen idea in order to understand Linji-Zen's original picture.This thesis has four parts:Briefly introduces the construction and historical evolution of Linji-Temple and Chengling-pagoda in part one,and looks at the prosperity and decline of Linji-Zen from the change of the visible hardware.There reviews particularly Yixuan's life of track and his disciples in part two.First, briefly analyses the social condition and the cultural background in later Tang,and then treats widely studying,participation,walking,and making friends to preach sermon and points out several Zen doctors who impact on Yixuan.The important part thoroughly discusses Yixuan-Zen idea.He takes seriously to set up "true opinion",be self-confidence,"not to be confused",in ordinary daily maintain "pure heart",achieve "nothing" and achieve the ultimate goal——"everywhere takes responsibility, standing-place is all real",and stresses that seeking "truth" is the essence of Yixuan-Zen idea,in order to propagate"scolded Buddha and progenitor",practice the denial, transcendent purpose of Zen. Part four:Describes why Linji-Zen obtained great development during the original period,and introduces some conditions of later inheritance.Yixuan commixed mediocre life and the buddhist-teaching.The free,lively,simple and direct,sprightly Zen style has important significance to modern to pursue the mood-relaxed, spirit-freedom,self-confidence and ultra-vulgar ideal.
