Comparative Study On The Explanation Of The Two-syllable-adjectives In The First Edition And Fifth Edition Of Modern Chinese Dictionary

Modern Chinese Dictionary is recognized as one of the most authoritative dictionaries nowadays.Regardless of the selection,phonetic,explanation,example for the word,it can be termed a model.This thesis focuses on the comparative study on the explanation of the two-syllable-adjectives in the First Edition and Fifth Edition of Modern Chinese Dictionary. By comparing the descriptions,this thesis is trying to find the reasons for changes,moreover to identify the shortcomings of the explanation and give some proposal idea.This study mainly includes two aspects:1.The detailed description of the differences between the two editions' explanation for the two-syllable-adjectives.This section consists of five parts:color-marking changes, "Sense" of the addition and deletion,the changes between different explanation models,the changes in the same model and the changes in the Parentheses.2.The depth study on the differences based on above.According to the descriptive statistics,this section analysis the reasons for kinds of changes mentioned above,and also points out the advantages and disadvantages of the Fifth Edition' changes.Through data analysis and corpus validation,this thesis provides some proposal idea.In conclusion,at word-explanation,Modern Chinese Dictionary should pay attention to the following opinion:1.Based on corpus and according to the language facts,Modern Chinese Dictionary can make a reasonable selection and explanation for the words.2.Based on making full of explanation models,Modern Chinese Dictionary should use different explanation models for different speeches.3.For the same kind of speech or the same type of explanation,it should be done on a consistent model.
