Words-Character in ancient Chinese language is common phenomenon which early emerged from the inscriptions on the bones and tortoise shells in the Shang Dynasty from 16th to 11th century B.C.and disappeared during the Qin-Han periods. The research of the Words-Character was written down since the Song Dynasty when the study of inscriptions on the ancient bronzes and stone tablets was thriving. The Words-Character are rather rich in the dictionaries and the editions for the Oracle Inscription, the inscriptions on ancient bronzes, the inscriptions on the Bamboo slips and the book copies on the silk.Nowadays, the scholars have done much research for the Words-Character in the Oracle Inscriptions and have spent little time to generalize,to systematize the rest documents, so we hardly discern its forming, its development, its evolution and its disappearance. In fact,it plays a big role to know about the development and variation through a systematic study to the Words-Character in ancient Chinese Characters. This paper will generally, comprehensively analyze the Words-Chracter in the Oracle Inscriptions, the inscriptions on the bamboo slips and the book copies on the silk through grouping the various documents, counting its number, disclosing its structure and feature at different times. This paper found its weakening trends and its disappearance time up to the Qin-Han periods through the chronologically comparations of various documents, and made clear its disappearance cause that the Words-Character did not adapt to the developing handwriting which one Chinese Character represents one sound and one word, namely, one handwriting unit using one Chinese Character, and at last Words-Character in ancient Chinese language was replaced gradually by Chinese handwriting mainstream-One-Word-One-Character handwriting form through the inner Chinese Characters adjustment.
