The Imperial Examination System in Tang Dynasty could induce intellectuals to read and take the exam. Passing it not only mean they could greatly improve the political status but could gain rich economic interest. It could change the poor intellectuals'poverty life or make the rich one richer. Therefore the economic interest was the most important factor. However engaging in the Imperial Examination was a great investment. It needed a lot of fee in basic necessities of life. What's more tuition and others also need a lot of expenditure. Without enough economic bases, it is difficult for the poor person to continue to read .Maybe it was not problem for the rich one, but for the poor person it was a heavy burden. They deliberately planned or used anything they could gain from the support from the family and society. To some extent the country would give some support to them. Whether the readers could take the examination was usually determined by the economic factor, so it was the reason why most of the passers were from rich or traditional honor family. Because of the weak points of the Imperial Examination, the rich one entered the official career at any cost then they could gain economic interest. However the poor one couldn't pass the exam because of the economic bases. The economic situation commonly deciding the competition between them were determined by the competition of the economic strength to a great degree .In Tang Dynasty the bookmen and scholars paid a lot of time ,energy and money on the Examination. It influenced their economic life and their family economic life.
