Tang dynasty is a crucial period for the development of the imperial examination system. The palace examination is an important component of Tang dynasty imperial examination system. There are a lot of achievements in the area of Tang dynasty imperial examination, but the study of the palace examination of Tang had been less attention. They are scattered in a number of works, and the system has not formed. Therefore, the research of Tang dynasty palace examination has a great significance for a comprehensive understanding of the examination system and a deeper understanding of politics and culture of Tang dynasty. In order to make this study a comprehensive, systematic and in-depth research, this paper based on previous studies and more historical data. The full paper is divided into five parts:The first chapter is the introduction. It introduced the significance in this article, research methods and innovations of this paper. There is a comprehensive review in this part, which comprises the author's study as well as relevant research results.The second chapter discussed the origin and evolution of the Tang dynasty palace examination. Firstly, this part defining the basic concepts of the Tang dynasty palace examination. And then it tried to on explore the relationship between Tang dynasty palace examination and Zhiju. According to the historical phases of Tang, it makes a longitudinal study to examine the palace examination. The chapter analyzed the origin of palace examination in Wu and Zhou dynasties, the development during the prosperous Tang, and the decline in late Tang Dynasty. It's a specific analysis that focused on the basic characteristics and causes of palace examination system.The third chapter talked about the form, content and characteristics of Tang dynasty palace examination system. Firstly, it discussed the form of the Tang dynasty palace examination, which includes five aspects, the examiner, test strategy officer, candidates, the examination time and place. Secondly, the article told us that subjects and content are two main elements of the Tang dynasty palace examination. Then try to explore the official division. Ultimately, article analyzed the three characteristics of the Tang Dynasty Palace. On the horizontal analysis, this part trying to make it more clear understanding.The fourth chapter discusses the role and impact of the Tang Dynasty Palace examination system. From the social and historical development of the relationship between necessity and chance, from the emperor, the winner of the examination, the relationship between imperial examination system and Tang community, analysis on the historical role of the Tang Dynasty Palace examination. And from the imperial examination system, political and cultural, three aspects expatiates the far-reaching impact of the Tang dynasty palace examination on future generations.The fifth chapter is the conclusion. To sum up and deepen the text, pointing out that the origin, the process of development and decline of the Tang Dynasty Palace examination have a great relationship with social history and politics, and culture of Tang Dynasty. As a particular stage of Chinese imperial examination system, the Palace examination of Tang Dynasty created the first kind of its system, with far-reaching significance.The main innovation of this article as follows: the research and exposition on the basis of clear the basic concepts of the Tang Dynasty Palace examination. It pays lots of attention to a mutual penetration which between the political and cultural factors in Tang Dynasty. Through longitudinal and historical comparison of the Tang Dynasty Palace examination and Changju of Tang Dynasty, this study has a positive role in promoting imperial examination system and the history of Tang dynasty.
