A Comparative Study On Sino-American Contemporary Fiber Art

Recently, thanks to the promotion of the International Fiber Art Festival - from Lausanne to Beijing, the contemporary fiber art becomes very popular in China. Though China has a long and brilliant history of fiber art, when it comes to the contemporary fiber art, America excels china from the emergence, development, creation, study, techniques, form, material, promotion of modern fiber art to its theoretical research. Since the 50s and 60s of last century, China and America have had many exchanges in this field, and the exchanges have exerted positive effects on both countries' development. With China's reform and opening up, economic development, the exchanges are sure to be more and strong. Considering this situation, it's significant to do the comprehensive study on Sino-American contemporary fiber art, find out the similarities and differences between both countries' design conception, education system, material selection, output of the image and the survival status of artists, explore how they influence each other and what effects the influence have on the international fiber art in the future. This thesis will try to expound and prove all these above-mentioned aspects.
