A Research On Chinese Comterporary Fiber Art

China has hosted the International Fiber Art Biennale Exhibition for seven sessionssince the first successful holding of the "From Luosang to Beijing", which has broughtChinese contemporary fiber art into a new international filed. We are delighted that with thestrengthening of the international cultural exchange, Chinese contemporary fiber art hasrapidly developed, meanwhile we still have many shortcomings to overcome.This paper is a theoretical reviewed study, which mainly focuses on the analysis of thecurrent situation and development of Chinese contemporary fiber art, combing the changesin the process of Chinese contemporary fiber art. This paper is divided into four chapters foranalysis and discussion. The discussion range of the state of Chinese contemporary fiber artis mainly from the1980s to the present. First of all, by elaborating the origin of the nameand the concept formation of "fiber art" to describe and analyze the presence status ofChinese contemporary fiber art and the creation characteristics of contemporary fiber art.Then the study of the institution-based domestic design style, which is obvious "SouthernSchool" and "Northern School". Moreover, the study of the important role China has playedin the development of Chinese contemporary fiber art by hosting the seventh "FromLuosang to Beijing" International Fiber Art Biennale Exhibition. Secondly, with thecontinuous innovation of science and technology, the emergence of a new type of fibermaterial can give contemporary fiber artists what kind of creative passion on art. Thirdly,how the form of Chinese contemporary fiber art creation and the development of materialsaffects the creation of the artist’s study of the form. Finally, from the current situation ofChinese contemporary fiber art and the comparison with Europe and America, Japan andKorea, this paper has made the prospect of expectations on how to develop contemporaryfiber art in China.
