With the rapid development of information technology and internet, there are more and more online English learning resources. Studies on how to utilize rich multimedia resources to facilitate the students'English learning have been on the rise. But only few studies involve integrating the network resources based on a topic to assist the English learners in spoken English input. With relevant theories as the guidance, this study serves as a case study for problem solving. This study firstly investigates and analyzes the current state of listening comprehension and spoken English instructions for the freshman in Net College of a University. It is found that the spoken English output in the classroom is rather poor. The main reason is that the students have insufficient spoken English input during the extracurricular time. In order to solve this problem, this study, under the guidance of Instructional Design Theory, selects some listening and speaking network resources centering on the topics for the freshman in the Net College, and integrate these resources in a spoken English resource network that is designed as extracurricular English learning materials for the freshmen to increase their language inputs. Finally, this study has proved that such resources can help the students to expand the spoken English input according to the analysis results from the questionnaires distributed to the students. This paper firstly presents relevant concepts, previous research findings and theoretical basis regarding this study, and describes the whole design procedures for the network resources in detail, from content analysis, resource selection, and resource design to resource integration. Then this paper presents the experiment process about how the resource network is used to assist the students in extracurricular spoken English learning and analyzes the findings of the questionnaires. At the end of this paper, innovations and the limitations of this study are concluded and meanwhile the future study scheme is proposed.
