"Beauty literature"is one of the most remarkable phenomena in Chinese literary world in the late 20th century. Those female writers born in 1980s have become"beauty writer"after the massive advertisement campaign initiated by the mass-media. Other than Weihuis and Mianmians born in 1970s, their novels are of unique individuality and style, which are affected greatly by the post-modern masses cultural ideological trend. This thesis attempts to present a comparatively complete style and characteristics of the"beauty literature"by way of integrating the theory of the youth sub-culture, the masses-culture, post-modernism, feminism and consumption culture and going deep into their works to march interpretation of their versions. This thesis is made up of three chapters. The first chapter, as a background part, introduces their writing situations and origins and lays a foundation for the whole thesis. The second chapter describes the thoughts of their works. Such themes as Freedom, loneness, sadness and love are chanted recurrently in their works. For their material wealth can not take place of their emptiness in sprits, they pursue their ideals firmly behind"cruel youth", in which beauty writers show their subtle consciousness in feminism. Generally speaking, this thesis goes into depth individually from the topic to the spirit of text. The third chapter analyses their art techniques used in their works. Although they should be valued highly in their language, a narrow theme and single account can not argue persuasively. The ideas of concerning about themselves make them immersed in self-centered emotion easily. As a result, they pay no attention to outside world and misery in human world.
