The Pronoun Reduplication Investigation Of Modern Chinese

Reduplication distributes widely in different languages as a means of grammar, which has been the emphasis and hotspot in the study of Chinese grammar. During the study of the parts of speech, the results of verb and adjective are more than others. In order to enrich the study of the reduplication, we select the reduplication of pronoun as our study object.In this paper, "two-triangle" theory is the guiding methodology." Fully observed, fully described and fully explained is our principle. We plan to make a solid investigation of pronoun reduplication from more angles. This paper is divided into six parts:The first part is the introduction, starting with a detailed description of the study object from the connotation and extension. Then we summed up the contribution made by the scholars on reduplication of pronoun, and pointed out the shortcomings, as well as the direction of our efforts. Finally, we introduced the significance of this study, methods and ideas.In the second part, we classified the different reduplication of pronoun into four parts, including the formation reduplication, syntax reduplication, Pragmatic reduplication and the barging categories. And we also described the scope, causes and conditions.In the third part, we talked about the form of the pronoun reduplication, as well as the characteristics in the special sentences and the syntactic functions. The reduplication of interrogative pronouns always appears in the object clause, the predicate of which are the verbs such as "say, listen and write".In the Part IV, we analyses the semantic change of the pronouns reduplication, mainly embodied in the increasing number of objective-quantity and subjective-quantity, as well as the extent of the deepening and the expansion of the scale of the subjective-quantity.Part V discussed stylistic features, the characters of expression and Pragmatic function. The Pronoun reduplication frequently engaged in the dialogue of daily lives, which are arbitrary and subjective. The main Pragmatic functions include enhanced function ,which can enhanced the focus, mood and topic , the emotional function, the distinction functions, as well as shielding special information functions.Conclusion is the last part, we summed up the main viewpoints in the whole paper, and simple introduced the pronoun reduplication of Ancient Chinese and different dialects.
