Imperial examination system, which existed about 1300 years and had far-reaching influence, is one of the main systems of selecting talented people in feudal society in China. Some people lacked real understanding of it, even blindly criticized it. With the knowledge-based economy's coming, higher education faces a new challenge. It can make us more generally and objectively understand itself to study Imperial examination system, of course, it can help the teachers and students foster the educational values of studying for the sake of application and it can even make them produce reverence and piousness to science and academy, thus, it can improve their own ability to innovate. At the same time, it is favorable to construct the course system of higher schools, to instruct the present test reform and to promote the construction and development of the discipline in higher schools. Therefore, the writer tried summing up the course of the development and change of the knowledge home and abroad, analyzed the guiding function on knowledge development of imperial examination system and explored the relationship between imperial examination system and knowledge.The article is mainly divided five parts and it mainly adapted the ways, text, history and comparison.Preface is the heritage overview. In this part, the writer mainly summed up the evaluations of imperial examination system from the angles of the politics and education, at the same time, the writer also talked about the relationship between imperial examination system and schools.In Chapter 1, the writer mainly explored the evolution of imperial examination system. Imperial examination system is another system of selecting officials after Cha Ju Zheng Pi system and Jiu Pin Zhong Zheng system. Based on its formation, development and abolishment, imperial examination system can be divided into three stages.In Chapter 2, the writer mainly described the course of the development of the knowledge home and abroad since 7C. Based on the highs and lows of knowledge development, the history of imperial examination system in 1300 can be divided into two periods—Sui, Tang and Song dynasties and Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties.In Chapter 3, the writer expounded the promoting function on knowledge of imperial examination system development in Sui, Tang and Song dynasties, at the same time, the writer analyzed the educational system and teaching contents. Based on redefining the school of thought, the writer decoded Song school and got a conclusion, only Cheng and Zhu's philosophies can be called philosophical schools, so the writer retraced its development and raised its inspiration to modern schools.In Chapter 4, the writer mainly expounded the preventing function on knowledge imperial examination system, especially on scientific knowledge, in Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. The rulers' limitation on test contents prevented the disintegrated development of the knowledge and the birth of the new schools. As a result, in modern times, when many natural science schools were born in western countries, the academic circles were so quiet in China, and when the western countries advocated academic freedom, the feudal rulers were carrying out literal inquisition.
