The song and yuan period was a period when the Chinese traditional opera art was really mature.The most successful opera works of this period were southern opera of song and yuan dynasty and zaju of yuan dynasty,which played an important role in the history of literature.And the imperial examinations into play has long been a tradition,song and yuan period of the opera works have the imperial description: "pipa","the romance of a hairpin","number one scholar",and so on more than 40.The number of these works is considerable,so it can be seen that the imperial examination plays an important role in the drama of the song and yuan dynasties.The great proportion of the imperial examination in the drama works of song and yuan dynasties determines its high research value,but the academic circle does not pay much attention to this aspect.Starting from the above ideas,this paper adopts the method of mutual verification between literature and history in the research method,taking the imperial examination writing in drama works of song and yuan dynasties as the research object,and divides the whole paper into five chapters.The first chapter makes a statistical analysis of the drama works describing imperial examinations in the song and yuan dynasties,which provides a basis for the discussion in the following four chapters.At the same time,this kind of works are divided into three stages,namely,the song dynasty,the middle and early yuan dynasty,and the late yuan dynasty,and the characteristics of each stage of the works are summarized.The second chapter elaborates the description of imperial examinations in opera works from a vertical perspective,including the purpose of taking part in the imperial examinations,the rural examination,the imperial examination and the imperial examination,and the ceremony of grace and example after taking the imperial examinations.By analyzing the performance of the imperial examination in opera works,this paper discusses the similarities and differences between the imperial examination in literary works of the song and yuan dynasties and the imperial examination system in history.Chapter three sets up three case analysis.There are many opera works described by the imperial examination.Through the analysis and discussion of the three works zhang xie zhuangyuan,xiaoxiang yu and pipa ji,we can find out the similarities and differences between literature and historical facts more accurately,so as to facilitate our understanding of the author's intention of such design.The fourth chapter focuses on the description of the reasons for the imperial examination in the drama works of the song and yuan dynasties.In the song and yuan dynasties,there were a large number of opera works depicting imperial examinations,so the reason for the arrangement of the author became a very worthy question,which was mainly analyzed from the three aspects of social background,author factors and audience demand at that time.The fifth chapter mainly discusses the narrative function of the imperial examination in the drama works of song and yuan dynasties,including the narrative function and deepening the theme.The imperial examination provided new ideas for the opera writers,and also played a powerful narrative function in the works,promoting the development of the story plot and deepening the theme of the works.
