Ancient Korean imperial examination system’predecessor was "three grade subject of reading" in Silla period, which was established in Koryo dynasty period, steady developed in Chosun dynasty, and be abolished until 1894. This paper uses the system as the foundation, expound the imperial examination system in the process of establishment and development and destruction. Meanwhile, the paper will grasp the characteristics of the ancient Korean imperial examination system, and dig deeper into the cause of ancient Korean imperial examination system characteristics.This paper is divided into the following chapters:The first chapter is the introduction part, which mainly expounds the purpose and significance of topics, as well as the research situation of this topic and the research method of this paper.The second chapter mainly introduces the establishment and development of the imperial examination system in Koryo period, which is divided into four part, namely initial, withering stage, secondary stage and repetitive stage. This chapter analyzes the development of imperial examination system in Korea in different period.The third chapter mainly introduces the development status of the Chosun dynasty imperial examination system. The development of Chosun dynasty’s imperial examination system was divided into three stages, which was Chosun dynasty inherit Koryo’s imperial examination system, Imjin Wainan affcted imperial examination system in the middle of Chosun dynasty, and the development and destruction of imperial examination system in the end of Chosun dynasty.The fourth chapter mainly analyzes the main characteristics of the Korean ancient imperial examination system. Combined with the above in this chapter sums up the main characteristics of the Korean imperial examination system. In addition, based on the investigation to the ancient Korean society analysis the reasons from the three characteristics.The fifth chapter is the conclusion part. Through the above the contents of ancient Korean imperial examination system and its characteristic analysis, summarized its characteristic appearance has close relations with north Korea’s ancient society.
