The system of verbal measure words is one of the two parts that is made up to the system of measure words in Chinese. The essay concludes the advantages and disadvantages of these classification systems through the conclusion on verbal measure words. From the new angle, the author classifies the action measure patterns according to the cognition characteristic, the action frequency, continuing feature, as well as specifically completed conditions. We think that there are four kinds of verbal measure features as below: first, the pattern of measuring short interval; second, the pattern of measuring long interval; third, the pattern of measuring inner continuing characteristic; fourth, the pattern of measuring specifically completed conditions. And then we also make a conclusion on the measure pattern of Chinese verbals in the light of the four features above. We classify them into ten small types, they are: number one concludes borrowed substance verbal measure words and the short time verbal"Xia"; number two concludes professional verbal measure words"Ci","Hui"and unprofessional quantifiers; number three concludes measuring time quantifiers, and verbal measure words of the same form and continuing; number four includes unitary and spacial quantifiers. On the basis of the classification above, the paper makes a detail analysis on the semantic features of these measure patterns in chapter two.We had ever made a test on thirty international students in order to know how they learn the verbal measure words, and the correct rate was only 58 percent. These international students learned Chinese more than a year, and made a comprehension on the basic meaning and usage of verbal measure words. That is to say, the verbal measure word is a weak sector in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The author makes a investigation on some currently used text books, grammar outlines and HSK questions, and then find out the shortcomings of the present verbal measure words teaching. According to the analysis of the semantic characteristic of Chinese verbal measure words above, and the collected experiences during the two years teaching period, the author generalizes some teaching strategies, that is to learn verbal measure words from angles of etymology, semantic meaning, and grammar. Besides, we also should abide by the step by step rules in teaching the hope of making the verbal measure words teaching throughout the whole teaching procedure of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. |
