Discussing The Classical Implication In Zheng Chouyu's Poems

Zheng Chouyu is a renowned poet of modernist school in Taiwan, and a important one in . contemporary Chinese poetic World. With blending the traditional poetics and modern people's complex feelings and "the poem thought that" in the same place, combining and complementing one another the artistic technique of China and the West, he creates a color variegated, to shake man's heart and soul and unified whole poetry world. He is tender and graceful and restrained sometimes, sometimes bold and unconstrained, sometimes singing melancholy and shallowly, sometimes singingthe elegy generously......Although he is complicated and changeable, the long classical implication isactually his invariable bottom color. His majority of works, not only the connotation of thought and emotions of them, but also the form attribute, present the strong classical flavor.This paper is mainly based on the majority of Zheng's poems (his preliminary works primarily), putting him in his living background and the creation time, systematically analyses and looks wholly the connotation of thought and emotions and the artistic form of those poems, to present the classical implication in his poems and investigate how he has melted classicism with modernism in a stove also namely the relation of tradition and modern in his creation: In part one, by combing all sorts of views of the savants on "the implication" and "the classical implication", the paper attempts to summarize and explain the connotation of "the classical implication". In part two, the paper systematically analyses and synthetically elaborates the expression of traditional humane spirit—kind knightly spirit, the creative use of traditional images, as well as the building of classical poetic imagery and the musicality, to reveal the classical implication in his works. In part three, from two aspects which is blending the traditional poetics and modern feelings, utilizing ingeniously the tradition technique and the West's modernism skill to innovate the modern poetic language, the paper discusses how he has realized the modernity transmission of the classical implication successfully. In concluding remarks, on the basis of the analysis and discussion to the classical implication in his poems, the paper sets forth the relation of tradition and modern of his poetic creation, and gains certain poetic enlightenment.
