In recent years, the research of proactive personality has become one of the critical issues in the domain of industrial and organizational psychology. Proactive personality is defined as a disposition of being relatively unconstrained by situational forces, and toward taking action to influence one's environment.Through some standard research methods such as literature review and survey investigation with workers from enterprises in China, the construct dimension of proactive personality and its consequences has been studied. Such statistics as exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, regression analysis, and analysis of variance were applied for the data analysis. The conclusions were drawn as following:Firstly, proactive personality scale is comprised of two dimensions, namely Personal Initiative, and Hardiness. They have something different with west employees.Secondly, this study found proactive personality to have psychological and attitudinal consequences for employees in the form of work engagement, self-rating contexual performance, and turnover intention. Furthermore, different dimension of proactive personality have effect on these consequences differently.Thirdly, perceived organizational support was found to significantly moderate the relationship between proactive personality and its consequences such as work engagement, contexual performance, and turnover intention respectively.Fourthly, Significant differences of proactive personality were found comparing the staff with different hierarchical level, educational level, job position, and ownership of enterprises. However, no significant differences were found in the employees' proactive personality among staff with different sex and age.Current limitations and future research orientation were also discussed at the end of the dissertation.
