Before the construction of Middle-East Railway at the end of the nineteenth century ,there was no beer industry in bin-sui area and hence local habitants do not have the habit of drinking beer. Since the completion of the eastern branch of the middle-east railway ,the area stretching from Harbin to Sui fenhe had gradually become an integrated region ,in which the convenient traffic, the fornication of modern market and the industrialized made of agricultural production provide great opportunity for the development of the beer industry .furthermore ,in the wake of the completion of the railway ,numerous foreigners moved to and settled down in the northeast of china. They took the lead of introducing the techniques of beer production and establishing a passel of modern beer manufactures with industrialized scale .consequently ,the northeast of china had become the earliest, the largest and the most influential area of beer manufacturing. This dissertation discusses and evaluates the development of beer industry in the towns along bin-sui railway by exploring the historical transformation of Yi mianpo beer manufacture.
