The management of British American Tobacco Company in China is a process to become adapted to Chinese environment. From the perspectives of historic studies, this thesis aims to explore the management of British American Tobacco Company in China from 1937 to 1949, and analyzes the important factors that influence the management of British American Tobacco Company.This thesis has five parts. Part one is the preface, which firstly looks back upon the situation of British American Tobacco Company in China before 1937, and gives a review of the domestic and international relevant academic researches toward British American Tobacco Company, then states the research significance and the introduction on this thesis. Part two describes the management of British American Tobacco Company in the period of the War of Resistance Against Japanese. The war broke the commercial networks of British American Tobacco Company, thus influencing the cigarette production and sales. The business of British American Tobacco Company fell into a decline in the period of the War. But the British American Tobacco Company took some measures against this trend. Part three states the management of British American Tobacco Company from the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese to the founding of New China, mainly analyzes the dilemma of British American Tobacco Company and its final struggle. After the War of Resistance Against Japanese, British American Tobacco Company took the retrenchment policy, withdrawn their companies from north China. In the fourth part, the author further analyzes the factors, such as war, government, and the strategic decision of British American Tobacco Company, that influence the management of British American Tobacco Company from 1937 to 1949 in China. The last part is a conclusion, briefly reviews the management of British American Tobacco Company in China and puts forward my own views about it.
