The Study Of Bone Artifacts From Baiyan Site

This is an article about the primary study of bone artifacts from Baiyan site in Shanxi Taigu. From those human's relics, we can understand the development of bone-making technology in different periods, and their unique characters; also, we can calculate some social phenomenon from the study. There are four sections in this paper:The first part is the foreword. Firstly it introduces the history of internal research on bone artifacts,the present research,problems,the significance of the study and the general situation in Baiyan site.The second part is to divide the bone artifacts, and observe the vestiges ( including the vestiges of scraping,rubbings cutting,breaking,drilling and craving). Based on the difference in choosing raw materials the shape of each bone artifacts and the way of making them, they can be divided in eight sorts: drills,needles,ornaments in hair,arrow-head,chisel,bi,keys and shovels, each sort also can be classified to different types. The stage of the development is clearly, so we can make sure how the ancient people making bone artifacts and how to make progress on their thechnology, so that we can establish the stage of bone artifacts developing process.The third part is to discuss some questions reflected from the bone artifacts. It contains the difference between each kind of bone arifacts' production in the same stage; the progress of the technology; the changes of consciousness and the social conditions; the tendency of the handworking specialization; the transformation of the social scale and the proportion of the different way of making a living.The last part is conclution , to emphasizing the important of the study on bone arifacts.
