Animation was introduced into china in early 20th century. Several decade years later, our artists have given us many great works with varied forms and styles. In recent years Chinese animation went forward to change itself to industrialize to adapt the market. But in this period we have little opportunity to see a good animation as years before. The reasons are complex, but no matter how hard the situation is, animation lovers always have great passion and support Chinese animation and artists tried their best for searching a right way to the future.Chinese animation is a young burgeoning art, in its course of growing up, Chinese artists learnt every thing useful around them. This thesis aims at Chinese traditional opera, discuss the relationship between Chinese animation and Chinese traditional arts and culture. When Chinese animation absorb treasures from tradition, it must be a process of develop the useful and discard the useless. At the same time the student also did something influence its teachers. Animation technique and arts are more and more mature and endow the Chinese traditional opera with new perform power.China's various of traditional puppet performance is the nature bridge between animation and Chinese traditional opera. How should we look on the relationship between puppet show and animation? How should we look on the relationship between animation and cinema. In this thesis I spend a whole chapter to discuss the essence of animation, hoping to identify the animation among others similar arts, and ensure my practice has theoretical support.At last I introduced my practice for Beijing opera animation and make a summary of it.
