| The Singapore Chinese language is one of its official languages, and also the common language among the Chinese ethnic race. In recent years, the increased communication between Singapore and China gradually exposed the differences between the Chinese languages from both countries. Among these discrepancies, there are a couple of phrases that caused misunderstandings and funny incidents. This article tracked the early usages and meaning and also studied the references from modern articles from overseas. This is to understand the discrepancies and how they came about. In this study, it is discovered that due to social and political developments, the scope of meanings of wordings in China tends to minimize. At the same time, as China's influence increases, it is not unpredictable that the Singapore Chinese language will be more and more identical to the China's Chinese language.
