The Rural-work Department of the CPC Central Committee is a specialized institution to realize the agriculture cooperative movement, which founded in Feburary,1953 and ended in October, 1962.Its main duty is to set useful policies and suggestions on the agriculture cooperative movement and to guide it. The Rural-work Department existed less than 10 years from the beginning to the ending. It experienced three main stages: stage of the socialist transformation of agriculture; stage of deeply leap forward; and stage of adjusting economy in 1960s. In the paper, I try to make the department as the target, by knowing how did it carry out the policies, find out the fact, and how to form useful suggestions, to represent the cooperative movement from another historical view. Also, it will give us many useful suggestions for today's contribution. The paper consists of five parts:The first part I discuss objectively the background of the department and its inner division. The second part makes a systematically discussion on what had the department have done and repudiation it had to face. This part can be divided into three stages : stage of the department founded at the beginning; stage of high-speed develop of the agriculture movement and stage of developing in a wink. The third part mainly discusses what the department has done in the stage of the deeply leap-forward. It reorganized the people commune from four fields. The fourth part analyses the cause of being ended of the department, and also concerns what it has done in other fields. The paper finally makes a evaluation on the work the department had done and analyses the cause of being criticized for setting favorable suggestions to today's contribution.
