A Tentative Exploration In The Way Of Training In Singing Language

As a working language for those who are engaged in the art of singing, Putonghua is supposed to meet the requirement of clearness, accuracy, and natural coordination among sound, rhyme and tune to achieve the perfect combination between sound, word and feelings as desired. However, the coexistence of the Chinese Dialect (South Fujian Dialect) and the common language of Putonghua makes Putonghua with the accent of dialect a widely used language in both our work and life. As Putonghua is a skill to be mastered in music education, especially in the teaching of vocal music, it is thus more than necessary to correct Putonghua with the accent of dialect and to strengthen it in training. For this purpose, this article attempts to find the causes leading to the formation of Putonghua with the accent of South Fujian Dialect by analyzing the historical background of the formation of South Fujian Dialect, its distribution as well as its cultural origin. It makes a comparison between Putonghua with the accent of South Fujian Diact and the common language of Putonghua, Putonghua with the accent of South Fujian Dialect and singing language and so on respectively. It also explores ways to train singing in Putonghua with the accent of South Fujian Dialect by making use of the advantage of music itself. It has designed language rhythm exercises and vocal music exercises for the purpose of helping those who sing in Putonghua with the accent of South Fujian Dialect to prevent the interference of dialectal sound and to improve their ability to distinguish the pronunciation of the common language of Putonghua. It is hoped that such a design will help to accomplish the artistic effect of being correct in words and standard in accent, rich and splendid in both the sound and the feeling in expressing one's ideas and emotions in singing.
