The Study Of Modern Folk Painting In The South Of Fujian Province

With the depth of Fujian and Taiwan Intangible Heritage,The research on folk art in Fujian province has recently received more and more attention from the academic circles, and the research on Minnan modern folk painting is one important aspect of it. The modern folk painting, also known as the farmer paints, is specially referred to the newly emerging painting which was evolved from the traditional farmer paints, which is also regarded as the result of folk art creation activity. The relevant studies of this subject in Fujian Province is still blank, this paper has made a preliminary research on the modern folk painting of Tongan, Longhai and Quanzhou, which has been named as the hometown of Chinese modern folk painting by Ministry of Culture. Besides, according to the characteristic of modern folk painting, the paper has adapted the method which combined the study of folklore, the art, sociology, cultural ecology and the iconography, taken field research by linking the selected spots with the entire areas, taken an interview of the director of the cultural center in those areas and the representative farmer painters, and taken relevant photograph and information. The research of this paper is based on authentic materials. Furthermore, the paper contains six aspects, which are the cultural ecological environment, the artistic features, the artistic value of Minnan modern folk painting, the analysis of the current situation and the prospect of its development, and the enlightenment to modern oil painting. It also attaches the selected work coming from those three areas. Through the study of this essay, the author hopes it can bring a relatively clear and comprehensive understanding to the readers, and its original idea is to discuss the development of Minnan folk art with peers, and make some contribution to the Heritage and Development of Minnan modern folk painting and Fujian folk art. Besides that, it also hopes to play a positive role in the local cultural construction of Fujian.
