In the field of translation, the argument has lasted for a long time in terms of the strategies and skills about dealing with cultural elements. Some hold that Source Language oriented (SL-oriented) translation is better than Target Language oriented (TL-oriented) translation while the others hold that the latter overweighs the former. In the beginning of the 21st century, cultural exchange is frequent between countries. With a history of thousands of years, China is actively introducing its splendid culture abroad. A great number of classical literary works have been re-translated with the purpose of cultural exchange. So it is of essential importance to discuss the strategies and skills about dealing with cultural elements.This thesis holds that the nature of translation is communication. The transference of cultural information embodies the communication attributes of translation of cultural elements. Different nation has different culture. The difference is reflected by different language. Therefore, the difficulty of transference of cultural information is the transference of language. Thus what measures can we take in order to produce effective cultural elements translation?This thesis intends to explore transference of cultural information from the perspective of communicative studies, As an inter-linguistic and cross-cultural communication, it is beneficial to observe the relevant problems from a new perspective. The communicative attributes of translation have been given priority while other elements affecting the effectiveness have also been paid attention to.
