Lots of research fingdings have been got by people in Zhu Xi's philosophy since Song Dynasty and Ming Dynasty. Actually, Zhu Xi was also a successful administrator as a local official for many years. Based on Zhu Xi's theory and practice , Zhuwengong wenji was chosen so that Zhu Xi's administrative philosophy could be studied in detail from the aspect of bibliography.Most texts in Zhuwengong wenji are practical ones except peoms, which can reflect Zhu Xi's real life and thought as well as his administrative theory and practice. In order to study Zhu Xi's administrative philosophy easily, the emphasis is put on the official documents. Meanwhile, his personal letters and other texts are also taken into consideration carefully.The core of Zhu Xi's administrative philosophy is rule of virtue, which plays the most important role in the society. Regulation and punishment should be used for ruling the people if necessary. In Zhu Xi's mind, the thought of people foremost was the essence of rule of virtue. In this sense, Zhu Xi inherited and developed Confucian administrative philosophy. Zhu Xi's administrative philosophy belongs to a kind of model in agriculture society. However, Zhu Xi made great contributions to the society, for example, restricting the monarch power, proposing generous policy of private salt, saving the famished people, building the system of storing grains, etc.
