A Study Of Xia Xin(夏炘)'s Thought In The Classic Of The Songs(《诗经》)

Xia Xin is a well-known scholar in the late Qing Dynasty. He acquired a lot of achievements in the realm of the study of the Classic of Songs, Ritual(礼制) and Cheng-Zhu Neo-Confucianism(程朱理学), etc. People praised him at that time. But the study on Xia Xin is nearly a blank at present. This thesis intends to discuss Xia Xin's thought in the Classic of the Songs from five chapters.Chapter one introduces Xia Xin's family, experiences of life and his works. He was a prolific writer, with 17 kinds 81 volumes works handed down, among them 5 kinds 13 volumes studied the Classic of Songs.Chapter two summarizes Xia Xin's achievements in the realm of the study of the Classic of Songs, mainly displayed in three respects:First, about production and change about the poem. Second, about the history of the study of the Classic of Songs. Third, study the text of the Classic of Songs.Chapter three summarizes Xia Xin's characteristics in his study of the Classic of Songs: Synthesized the characteristics of scholarships of Hang and Song; Studied on the art of government and application.Chapter four promulgates the background of Xia Xin's academic thought's production from Society, his family and friends.Chapter five wish through this thesis, we can make a fair and simple appralsal on Xia Xin's thought in the Classic of Songs.
