At the end of Qing Dynasty & the beginning of the Republic of China was an important period of transition from traditional The Book of Songs to modern The Book of Songs. In this period, the study of The Book of Songs changed from the teaching of feudal education to the modern humanities. In this transition process,a more prominent feature is the dramatic rise in the "Guo Fen?" status and the thermal intensity of the "Guo Fen?" study. In response to this particular phenomenon, this paper tries to explore this aspect of the context of The Book of Songs research's development in the Late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China. It explores what is meant by the "Guo Fen?" study during this period and how it plays a role in the process of the transformation of The Book of Songs and the reasons for this phenomenon.Chapter ? focuses mainly on the special context of the development of "Guo Fen?" research, which provides an analysis of the social environment, the development of Confucian classics, and the development of The Book of Songs research. On this basis,it is understood that the The Book of Songs will be along the lines of the transition in the Late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China. In order to be able to understand the "Guo Fen?" research's "variation " during the whole development of the study of the The Book of Songs.Chapter ? describes the development of "Guo Fen?" during this period. This chapter describes the transformation of the study of "Guo Fen?" in this period from two aspects: the study of classics to the study of literature, the study of classics to the study of historical materials. The transition from Confucian classics to literature is the most prominent feature in the transformation of the study of the Book of Songs in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. It declares that the study of The Book of Songs has broken away from the shackles of traditional Confucian classics and become a modern humanistic science. The development of "Guo Fen?" research in the field of literature focuses mainly on three aspects: the definition of the nature of the "Guo Fen?" as a folk song; The emphasis on the choice of the "Guo Fen?" in the process of reinterpretation; And The upsurge in the interpretation of the poems of marriage and love. The study of the historical materials of the The Book of Songs embodies another important feature in the process of the transition from traditional learning to modern learning, that is,the traditional learning of classics no longer adapts to the development of society, but realizes the transformation from classics to history under the concept of "six classics are all history" advocated by Zhang Taiyan. The development of "Guo Fen?" during the period under historical data is mainly discussed in two ways: the historical study of the historical data of the "Guo Fen?";Research on folklore and cultural anthropology based on "Guo Fen?".Generally speaking, the study of historical materials of Guofeng in this period is still very immature: the folklore study is scattered in the study of individual scholars, not systematic;and the study of cultural anthropology was initiated and systematized by Wen Yiduo.Chapter ? mainly discusses the causes of this phenomenon in this period. It is important to pay attention to the fact that under the special background of the times, the connection between academy and society has been strengthened in an unprecedented way. Therefore, the scholars' study of "Guofeng" contains the thoughts on social transformation..The main social trends of thought affecting the study of "Guofeng" are as follows:The movement of collating the national culture under the trend of suspicion of ancient times and the Improvement of the status of civilian literature. The collating the national culture is a cultural movement with overall significance put forward by Hu Shi in this period, which has its positive significance, but the trend of thought of doubt of ancient times throughout it makes it become the movement of "destroying the national culture".As a reaction to the study of the traditional Confucianism of the Book of Songs, the literary research of the "Guo Feng" has been strongly advocated by scholars under the movement of sorting out the national causes through the thought of doubtful ancient times.Besides, another important influence on the study of the "Guo Feng" in this period is the improvement of the status of the civilian literature, and this historical trend has profound social roots. The "vernacular movement" and the "ballad movement" are all the expressions of this trend,While the "vernacular movement" and "ballad movement" have different degrees of relationship with the interpretation of folk songs in "Guo Feng".In essence, the folk song interpretation of "the Guo Feng" is combined with the thinking of seeking the ancient tradition for the folk song,so it has received the special attention of the scholars. From the study of the "Guo Feng" in this period,we can see many defects in the study of the The Book of Songs, such as the tendency of scholars to choose materials;Scholars' research methods take the present as an example; The definition of Hu Shi which think The Book of Songs is an ballads collection.it's all not reasonable. The culture movement in May 4th period had strong epochal character, and the social reality demand of "society" and "life" was the general thinking of the generation of intellectuals, which was no ground for blame under the special times environment. But in times of peace,we need to stand between tradition and modernity, have a rational reflection on the study of "Guofeng" and The Book of Songs at the end of Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China.
