College life is not only the crucial stage of the mature of self-conscious, but also the development of socialization .During the time, whether college students can recognize themselves and develop themselves correctly is vital to their social adaption. Therefore, the problem of their self-conscious and social adaption has become the focus of Developmental and Educational Psychology.The article begins with the research model of self-concept and potential meaning of social adaption. After a lot of reading and investigation, the relation between self-concept and social adaptation is obvious. Students from three universities in Nanjing were selected to fill up the Self-concept Questionnaire and the Social Adaptation Questionnaire. According to the analysis of statistics , several conclusions are made: 1 , College students'self-concept influences social adaption significantly.2, Positive correlation can be seen between self-concept and social adaption.3, The ability of social adaption develops with the age.4, The interactive influence of genders and social adaption is nonsignificant .while that of college difference is significant.
