Researching And Analyzing On The "Duansong" And "Ba'se" Of Zaju Of Song Dynasty

The dramatic terms"duansong"and"ba'se", which are frequently employed in the historical materials of Zaju of Song dynasty, once aroused academic interest. And many scholars have conducted relative research on this phenomenon. However, up to now, it is a pity that there is no deep and thorough concerning this in the academe of China. This paper concentrates on the dramatic terms"duansong"and"ba'se"employed in the music accompaniment of Zaju of Song dynasty in virtue of the research methods of philology plus the methods of comparison, literature record, and the proof of cultural relics. The paper consists of two parts.The first part is subdivided into 4 chapters.Chapter 1 mainly deals with the definition of"duansong". The paper creatively analyzes the connotation of"duandong"from two perspectives namely, original meaning and derivative meaning. In its original meaning,"duansong"is a used as a verb meaning"accompany", while in its derivative meaning"duansong", a noun, referring to a performance procedure of Zaju of Song dynasty.Chapter 2 discusses the position and form of"duansong"of Zaju of Song dynasty. It proves that"duansong"can be before or behind the act of Zaju but it always be behind the playing. And it holds that the form of"duansong"in Zaju of Song dynasty can be music only.Chapter 3 expatiates the functions of"duansong". In this chapter, the relationship and differences of"duansong","raoxi","chayan"and"bukong"are made clear.
