Up till now, the comparative studies on piano teaching models in teacher education andmusic performance are mainly concerned with specific points, but not with the whole scope, and they lack thorough analysis in depth. Most of the studies either only refer to thedifferences of piano teaching in these two fields or criticize the imitation of piano teaching inteacher education from music performance. Few of the studies emphasize the laws andteaching characteristics of piano teaching itself, or the generality and the scientific aspects ofthe two models, in other words, the studies neglect the compatible aspects of the two models. This thesis will compare the two models from a holistic perspective, and focus on every linkin piano teaching, aiming to combine the technicality of piano arts and the normal character ofteacher education together. This study hopes to advance the research in piano teaching inteacher education all-around and deeply;to offer some references and theoretical frameworkfor the piano teaching reform in teacher education. This study is a comparative one based on practice, investigation and others' experienceand it employs the following devices: document-reading, graph-illustration and case study. The paper consists of three parts:Part One: Raising problems.
